Council of Governors
Scotch College Council of Governors are responsible for the governance of all affairs of the College.
They operate in accordance with the Scotch College Adelaide Incorporation Act 1922 (the Statutes).
The Council utilises advisory committees which include:
- Risk Committee
- Finance Committee
- Investment Committee
- Infrastructure Committee
- Advancement Committee
- Education Committee
The membership of advisory committees includes members of the College community as well as Members of Council. Committee members are appointed either to provide specific expertise, or to represent a section of the Scotch community.
Council members are elected for terms of three years and positions become vacant at varying times.
Todd Roberts (’88)
Chair of Council
Member of Council (since 2020)
Todd joined Credit Union SA in June 2020 as the Chief Executive Officer having spent over 11 years as an Executive at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. Todd is passionate about leading a highly effective, performance-driven team of finance professionals who are dedicated to achieving outstanding results for their members and customers. Todd took over as Chair of Council in August 2021.
With over 25 years working in finance and professional services across Australia and the UK, Todd has developed a strong understanding of a wide range of financial and commercial disciplines from accountancy, audit and insolvency to Institutional Corporate, Commercial and Retail banking.
Todd has held a significant number of Chair and Director roles with various not-for-profit organisations and charities throughout his career including the National Heart Foundation of Australia where he served as both a Director and Chair of the Investment Committee.
Trent Driver (Principal)

Member of all Council Committees
Commencing as Principal of the College in January 2023, Trent is an experienced school leader and educator with a career spanning single sex and coeducational schools across the independent sector. With an academic background in Economics at Sydney University, he has led complex teaching and learning programs in schools in NSW and Queensland, and brings a vision for the future of education for young people. Trent is graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and holds postgraduate degrees in both Economics and Educational Leadership, is a published author, and is on the board of the Association of Independent Schools of South Australia (AISSA).
Trent’s career has seen him embedded in the breadth of school life as a humanities teacher, sporting coach and coordinator, outdoor education leader, oratory coach and pastoral care specialist. As a school leader he is passionate about the professional development of teachers and driving the debates about the strategies that create extraordinary outcomes in schools.
As a parent of Aiden (Senior School) and Eleanor (Middle School) he sees the impact of the College up close every day.
Peter Tulla (’83)
Member of Council (since 2011)
Chair of Infrastructure Committee
Peter is a past student and parent of Rachel (’15), Jessica (’18) and Brianna (’20) and is active member of the community since joining the Infrastructure Committee in 2010. With his background in the construction industry, ensuring the continued improvement of the built environment at Scotch is a focus of Peter’s input to the College.
Mr Tulla has had over a 30 year association Quantity Surveying / Cost Management consultants, Rider Levett Bucknall and is a Director of the Adelaide, Perth and Darwin offices, currently is Chairman of their Oceania and South East Asia Board and is a member of their global board. Peter is a fellow of the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors.
Angus Jaffray
Member of Council (since 2019)
Angus is the Executive Vice President People and Sustainability at Santos. He has previously held a number of roles at Santos during its transformation including EVP of Strategy and Technology.
Prior to joining Santos Angus was a Director at Azure Consulting and a Partner at the Boston Consulting Group. He advised clients in Australia and globally helping many of them transform their performance focussing on strategy, operational efficiency and organisational design.
Angus and his wife Rebecca chose Scotch for its focus on nurturing rounded young adults ready for the world with very high academic results complemented by an extraordinary breadth in extra-curricular opportunities.
Jody Burton
Member of Council (since 2019)
Jody is a parent of both the Senior School (Jack) and the Junior School (Charlie). Having moved back to Adelaide after 10 years living away, Jody and husband Troy believed Scotch was a school that was forward thinking, globally minded and keen to nurture the potential of each individual while recognising the importance of the school’s role in contributing society’s future.
Jody is the Executive Chief Financial Officer for Deloitte Australia responsible for delivery of the firm’s strategic financial objectives. Also having served as the firm’s Executive Chief Risk Officer, former Managing Partner of Deloitte in Adelaide and practising audit partner, her experience is derived widely across a broad industry base both within Australia and from international markets, bringing both a national and global perspective with 25 years experience in risk management, corporate strategy and operations, financial due diligence, internal and external audit.
Jody is a registered company auditor, Member of Chief Executive Women and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and New Zealand.
Peter Morel
Member of Council (since June 2023)
Rev Peter Morel was installed as Moderator of the Uniting Church in South Australia in June 2023. Peter began his education and formation as a Minister in 1990 in the Uniting Church, at Parkin-Wesley College and was Ordained in December 1995. Peter has had congregational and parish placements in Tumby Bay and Balhannah. More recently, he was the Coordinating Chaplain at St Andrew’s Hospital for nearly 15 years.
Peter is married to Gill and together they have 2 adult children and have now joyfully entered the world of grand parenting.
Ian Southwood (’81)

Ian is an Executive Director of the JBWere Ltd, an Investment Firm.
Ian advises a broad range of clients including a number of Non for Profits in the Education Sector.
Ian was previously State Manager and National Partner of Goldman Sachs JBWere Australia and has always lived and worked in Adelaide.
Mark Lewis (’83)

Chair of Advancement Committee
Member of Foundation
Mark is the current Chair of the Advancement Committee and member of the Council of Governors. He is an Old Collegian and has three children currently at Scotch.
Mark has significant senior executive and Board experience including Chairman roles. He is a Life Member of the Mortgage & Finance Association of Australia, awarded for his contribution over many years to the mortgage industry.
Nikki Govan
Member of Council (Since 2024)
Nikki is the owner of the Star of Greece restaurant in Port Willunga, and as a parent of a daughter in the Middle School, is an active member of the College community. Currently Chair of both the Adelaide Economic Development Agency and Green Industries SA, Nikki has a background across diverse public, private and non-for-profit organisations and boards. Her extensive work on the boards of the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the South Australian Skills Commission and on the SA Government’s Major Events Committee brings a breadth of experience to the Council.
