Academic Scholarships

Academic Scholarships are awarded to students of exceptional academic potential who demonstrate excellence across a broad range of disciplines.

Eligibility

To be eligible for an Academic Scholarship at Scotch College Adelaide, applicants must be:

  • a new student entering into Years 7 – 11, or
  • a current student entering into Years 7 – 11

Applicants must be Australian or New Zealand citizens or holders of an Australian Permanent Resident Visa.

Selection Criteria

Student selection is based on academic examination results and, if shortlisted, subsequent interviews.

Successful candidates will demonstrate enthusiasm for participating in the diverse range of opportunities offered by the college and will commit to meeting the expectations associated with the scholarship.

Key Dates

Applications open: Monday 28 October 2024
Applications close: Friday 17 January 2025
Scholarship examination: Saturday 8 February 2025

Scholarship outcomes communicated to families by 31 March 2025.

What does an Academic Scholarship cover?

Up to 50% of the day fee; may vary depending on the individual.

Awards of over 50% are made in exceptional circumstances. In such cases, parents will be asked to complete a financial assessment form.

The scholarship awarded applies to the relevant Scotch College day fee, but not to uniforms, enrolment fees, purchase of a laptop, private vocal or instrumental lessons, textbooks, excursions, sundry charges or other personal items.

Academic Scholarship Examinations

Academic Scholarship Examinations will occur in the Fisher Chapel at Scotch College Adelaide, Carruth Road, Torrens Park, Adelaide, 5062. Following the examination, shortlisted candidates are invited to an interview (via Zoom) with the Head of Teaching and Learning and the Head of School. Interviews will occur during February and March, after which all candidates will be notified of the outcome of their application by Australian Assessment Services.
