The Oughton Scholarship
The Oughton Scholarship is awarded to an external student entering Year 10 who demonstrates outstanding academic excellence, serves as a role model within the college community, and actively engages in co-curricular and enrichment opportunities.
Eligibility
To be eligible for an Oughton Scholarship at Scotch College Adelaide, applicants must be:
- a new student entering into Year 10
Applicants must be Australian or New Zealand citizens or holders of an Australian Permanent Resident Visa.
This scholarship is subject to means-testing and will be awarded to a student who wouldn’t be able to attend the college without financial support.
Selection Criteria
Student selection is based on academic attitude and achievement, an exemplary work ethic and strong leadership skills.
Successful candidates will be eager to participate in the wide range of opportunities and activities available at the college, demonstrate a commitment to making a positive difference and adhere to the scholarship expectations.

Applications open: Monday 28 October 2024
Applications close: Friday 17 January 2025
Scholarship outcomes communicated to families by 31 March 2025.
What does the Oughton Scholarship cover?
75% of the day fee; may vary depending on the individual.
The scholarship awarded applies to the relevant Scotch College day fee, but not to uniforms, enrolment fees, purchase of a laptop, transport, private vocal or instrumental lessons, textbooks and stationery, excursions, co-curricular activities, sundry charges or other personal items.
If the applicant for the Oughton Scholarship is shortlisted, the parents will be subject to a means test as part of the application process.
